Today we were amazed of how much one of our plants have grown. All of them have grown at least two inches tall. The tallest plant is touching the top of the bottle and the other plants have extra stems. The terrestrial part looks like it’s doing great with the exception that we found a white thing sticking out of the soil. We believe that it can be a mushroom or some type of fungus. There is still a lot of condensation in both portions of the ecosystem and the water level has lowered about 2 millimeters. The living things in the aquatic portion seem to be still alive. There is one specific shrimp that looks bigger and moves around in the water continuously. The elodea plant has grown all around the bottle and looks very green. One thing we found interesting, is that the dry top portion of the string turned black. We believe it is because of the water transportation to the top portion of the system going back to the water.
This week we challenged ourselves by drawing our closed ecosystem. Drawing our ecosystem was quite hard because we were not able to draw as many details as oppose to taking a photograph. The things that stood out the most to us we would draw, which also was helpful because it showed what our eye is most attentive to. Photographs, however, go into great detail and with technology today we are able to take as many pictures from different angles, and also zoom into the picture which is also another fascinating factor about photographs.
